Maintaining a healthy weight is difficult for your horse. It seems like he only has to look at food to pack on the pounds—or lose them. As nice as it may be to see a rotund belly, extra weight can wreak havoc on his body, including putting him at risk for laminitis and arthritis. Or it may seem you’re making herculean efforts to pack on necessary pounds, but he’s still skinny and stressed. It’s important to regularly review with your veterinarian your horse’s diet and living situation to help prevent his body condition from becoming something much worse.
"Our minis are notoriously difficult to maintain proper weights. The TEVA doctors help us every step of the way with proper nutrition and bloodwork to make sure they are staying healthy." - PL
